Ky’s Top 5 Most Anticipated 2020 Roller Coasters!

With the likes of Maxx Force and Steel Curtain opening up in 2019, I would chalk up last year as an okay year for roller coasters in the United States. But like most of the other coaster enthusiasts out there that I know, my focus has been on what brand new coasters 2020 has to offer!

With that said, here are Ky’s Top 5 Most Anticipated 2020 Roller Coasters!

Pantheon - Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Pantheon – Busch Gardens Williamsburg

#5 – Pantheon

  • Location: Busch Gardens Williamsburg – Williamsburg, Virginia
  • Manufacturer: Intamin Amusement Rides
  • Model: Blitz Coaster
  • Length: 3,328 ft.
  • Height: 178 ft.
  • Speed: 73 mph
  • Vertical Angle: 95 degrees

Why I’m Excited for This Ride:

Busch Gardens Williamsburg has its upsides and its downsides, but it’s a beautiful park nonetheless. This park features classics such as Alpengeist, Apollo’s Chariot, Griffon, and my personal park favorite, Verbolten, but following up those rides with Tempesto and InvadR seemed to let a lot of us down.

With that said, I am excited that the park is finally investing into something unique and fun for the park! Blitz coasters from Intamin pack a mean punch and this multi-launch coaster looks to be one helluva ride! I am excited for this one!

Texas Stingray - SeaWorld San Antonio
Texas Stingray – SeaWorld San Antonio

#4 – Texas Stingray

  • Location: SeaWorld San Antonio – San Antonio, Texas
  • Manufacturer: Great Coasters International
  • Model: Hybrid
  • Length: 3,379 ft.
  • Height: 96 ft.
  • Drop: 100 ft.
  • Speed: 55 mph
  • Inversions: 0
  • Vertical Angle: 95 degrees

Why I’m Excited for This Ride:

When this ride was first announced, I was like, “Oh, good for you SeaWorld.” I was like that mainly because I have been spoiled by the likes of El Toro and Steel Vengeance when it comes to hybrid woodies. However, after I took a virtual spin on this ride, I knew that this one could be surprisingly special. Major props to GCI for raising their game after seeing the great work Rocky Mountain Construction has been doing. This one looks like it will be a lot of fun!

Jersey Devil Coaster - Six Flags Great Adventure
Jersey Devil Coaster – Six Flags Great Adventure

#3 – Jersey Devil Coaster

  • Location: Six Flags Great Adventure – Jackson, New Jersey
  • Manufacturer: Rocky Mountain Construction
  • Model: Raptor Track / Single Rail
  • Length: 3,000 ft.
  • Height: 130 ft.
  • Speed: 58 mph
  • Inversions: 3
  • Vertical Angle: 87 degrees

Why I’m Excited for This Ride:

You all know that Six Flags Great Adventure is my home park, so I am a little biased here. With that said, I can never say know to an RMC raptor-type ride, especially one with a custom design! The general public may not be aware of what’s in store with this ride, and that has me really excited! I can’t wait to see the looks on their faces when they realized that they have to sit ALONE on the journey through this ride. *insert evil laugh*

Raptor-style single-rail coasters are intense and this one, while not as compact as RailBlazer and Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster, still looks like it will be an intense, unique and fun experience!

Orion - Kings Island
Orion – Kings Island

#2 – Orion

  • Location: Kings Island – Mason, Ohio
  • Manufacturer: Bolliger & Mabillard
  • Model: Hyper Coaster
  • Length: 5,321 ft.
  • Height: 287 ft.
  • Drop: 300 ft.
  • Speed: 91 mph
  • Inversions: 0
  • Duration: 3:00

Why I’m Excited for This Ride:

One of my favorite rides in the world is Fury 325 and Nitro. Both are high-quality B&M mega-coasters that are smooth, fast, and long. This one looks to combine my favorite parts from both of those coasters into one major roller coaster that is seriously looking to dethrone Millennium Force as the best 300+ ft coaster in the state of Ohio… game on!

Iron Gwazi - Busch Gardens Tampa
Iron Gwazi – Busch Gardens Tampa

#1 – Iron Gwazi

  • Location: Busch Gardens Tampa – Tampa, Florida
  • Manufacturer: Rocky Mountain Construction
  • Model: IBox Track / Custom / Hybrid
  • Length: 4,075 ft.
  • Height: 206 ft.
  • Speed: 76 mph
  • Inversions: 3
  • Duration: 1:50
  • Airtime Points: 12
  • Vertical Angle: 91 degrees

Why I’m Excited for This Ride:

My favorite roller coaster in the world is Steel Vengeance, and this coaster looks to offer a similar experience. I don’t know if it’ll surpass my love affair with Steel Vengeance, but judging by the layout and track elements, it is definitely going to give it a shot! I have a good feeling that this will win the award for Best New Coaster once the year is said and done.

So which of these are you most excited to ride in 2020?! Did we miss any of your favorites?! Let us know!
