Ky’s 5 Ways to Immediately Improve Your Day

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can make our day just a little bit better! With that said, here are Ky’s 5 Ways to Immediate Improve Your Day when you feel like it’s not the greatest.

1 – Talk with a Friend

If your day isn’t going great, sometimes it’s best to just vent to a friend about it. I’ve found that seeing a friendly face, or hearing their voice at least, is a great way to make my day a little better. They usually know me better than anyone else, so I know that they can empathize with what I’m going through.

Also, it doesn’t need to just be a friend! Your confidant might be a family member or a significant other. At the end, it’s making sure that you are with someone you love and trust.

2 – Go Exercise!

I know most people love working out to start their day, but I love working out to END my day. Exercising is the PERFECT way to improve your mood and your day. And let the record show, I’m not just talking about intense workouts. This includes simple things like going for a walk or doing simple calf-raises at your desk.

If you find that it improves your day, make it a point to add it into your day regularly!

3 – Enjoy Some ‘ME’ Time

There is nothing better than when you are free to just do you. Making yourself dinner, or sitting and watching your favorite show, or going for a solo hike… DO YOU!

Obviously, this is easier said than done, especially for those of you who are parents to young children, but it’s still important to find ways to do this if you can! Look, you can’t pour from an empty glass, so find ways to indulge yourself when you can.

4 – Acts of Kindness

This is where I personally get my high. I love doing things for other people. And seeing their reaction is the BEST feeling! Not only does it make my day better, but it’s also just a nice thing to do in general.

In other words, you have the ability to make your day better by making someone else’s day better!

5 – Write Out What You’re Thankful For

In life, we often overlook the small things. This is why it’s important for us to always take some time to look back at our day and understand what we’re thankful for and why. I will usually write down those things in a notebook and whenever I need a pick-me-up, I go back and I read them. They are simple reminders for why I should be smiling.
