Hey Vibers! It’s your boy, Ky!
The holiday season is officially here! How the heck did we get here so fast? Sheesh.
While the holiday season is often filled with joy and celebration, it can also bring a hefty dose of stress into our lives. I work for a very busy marketing agency right outside of Philadelphia, and for marketers, the stress during the holiday season for our clients’ success is profound.
Pair that with the end-of-the-year rush, family gatherings, and the pressure to make sure everything is perfect – it can be one of the most overwhelming times of the year. So today, we’re going to talk about managing that holiday stress and keeping our mental health on track!
Understanding Holiday Stress
First and foremost, please know that it is totally okay to feel stressed during the holiday season. Every year, we put immense pressure on ourselves to create the most magical holiday experiences, and because of that, we often forget that we’re human beings, not holiday superheroes. Vibers, please remember, it’s alright if every detail isn’t 100% perfect.
Personal Struggles with Holiday Stress
As I’ve alluded to before, I’ve definitely had my share of holiday blues every now and then. Juggling marketing deadlines, family expectations and travel, and personal commitments to my social media platforms can often feel like I am spinning plates while trying to play basketball. (Go Sixers, btw.) Just last year, I found myself so caught up in the frenzy that I barely had a moment to enjoy the season. It really was a wake-up call for me.

Humor in the Face of Stress
Have you ever tried gift wrapping at midnight while binge-watching some random show you’ve been super behind on? Listen, there’s nothing like realizing you are the worst wrapper in the history of the world, while your ADHD hella distracts you from the task at hand and the TV is on. It’s kinda funny as I look back at those moments. It definitely breaks the holiday tension I sometimes feel and reminds me to laugh amidst all the chaos of the season.
Practical Tips for Managing Stress
- Set Realistic Expectations: You don’t have to attend every holiday party. It’s okay to say “no.”
- Self-Care Rituals: Make sure you carve out time for yourself. A hot bath, a good book, a Sixers game (that’s me lol) … your options are endless.
- Mindfulness Practices: Deep breathing, meditation, and gratitude journaling can help center your thoughts so you can find some peace and calmness within yourself.
- Ask for Help!: You are not alone. Team up with family or friends if you can and share the load of the season!

Balancing Realism and Optimism
We need to make sure we balance our view of the holiday season itself. Not every moment needs to be joyous. Accepting the ups and downs can help us approach the season with a more grounded and realistic perspective.
